The ARGE U5 Lot 1 team in Munich rea\u00adched a mile\u00adstone in March 2024 and pro\u00addu\u00adced the first cover for the exten\u00adsion of the U5 sub\u00adway line to Pasing. Around 900 m\u00b3 of con\u00adcrete was pou\u00adred in a large-scale con\u00adcre\u00adting ope\u00adra\u00adtion. Due to the inner-city con\u00addi\u00adti\u00adons and the dif\u00adfi\u00adcult traf\u00adfic access to the con\u00adcrete, con\u00adcre\u00adting was car\u00adried out all day from 07:00 to 20:00. <\/p>\n\n

In the so-cal\u00adled dia\u00adphragm wall cover con\u00ads\u00adtruc\u00adtion method, the cover (the later buil\u00adding cei\u00adling) is con\u00ads\u00adtruc\u00adted first and the sides are secu\u00adred with a dia\u00adphragm wall. Excava\u00adtion then takes place under the pro\u00adtec\u00adtion of this cover. This con\u00ads\u00adtruc\u00adtion method has pro\u00adved its worth in Munich for large road tun\u00adnels, as it means that traf\u00adfic can be main\u00adtai\u00adned above ground for the most part. This method is now being used again here for sub\u00adway construction. <\/p>\n\n
