The new Ebens\u00adfeld \u2014 Erfurt line is part of the Ger\u00adman Unity Rail Trans\u00adport Pro\u00adject No. 8 \u2014 Nurem\u00adberg \u2014 Erfurt \u2014 Leipzig\/Halle \u2014 Ber\u00adlin upgraded\/new line. As a sec\u00adtion of the Ger\u00adman Unity Trans\u00adport Pro\u00adject (VDE) No. 8 with the upgraded and new Nurem\u00adberg \u2014 Erfurt \u2014 Leipzig\/Halle \u2014 Ber\u00adlin line, the new Ebens\u00adfeld \u2014 Erfurt line (VDE 8.1) with a total length of approx. 107 km was desi\u00adgned as a stan\u00addard-gauge, dou\u00adble-track, elec\u00adtri\u00adfied rail\u00adroad line for high-qua\u00adlity pas\u00adsen\u00adger and freight traf\u00adfic. The design speed of the Rei\u00adters\u00adberg Tun\u00adnel was the\u00adr\u00ade\u00adfore also set at 300 km\/h. The Rei\u00adters\u00adberg Tun\u00adnel is loca\u00adted within the appro\u00adxi\u00adm\u00adately 5.6 km long R\u00f6den\u00adtal con\u00ads\u00adtruc\u00adtion sec\u00adtion in the dis\u00adtrict of Coburg. With a total length of 2,975 m, the Rei\u00adters\u00adberg Tun\u00adnel is the fourth lon\u00adgest tun\u00adnel of a total of 22 tun\u00adnels on the new Ebens\u00adfeld \u2014 Erfurt line. The Rei\u00adters\u00adberg tun\u00adnel was excava\u00adted in units of shell lime\u00ads\u00adtone with karst phe\u00adno\u00admena, Lower Keu\u00adper and Upper Buntsandstein. <\/p>\n\n

The tun\u00adnel was excava\u00adted and blas\u00adted. The inner shell, which is up to 90 cm thick, is desi\u00adgned to be pres\u00adsure-tight. Due to the very short con\u00ads\u00adtruc\u00adtion time for the inner shell, a \u201cmobile invert bridge\u201d was used. This made it pos\u00adsi\u00adble to con\u00ads\u00adtruct a 12.5 m long invert block, inclu\u00adding fil\u00adling con\u00adcrete, within 2 working days while the tun\u00adnell\u00ading work continued. <\/p>\n\n
