AUGUST REINERS has rea­ched a major inte­rim mile­stone at the Ham­burg Har­bor Rail­way Tun­nel. With the par­tial dis­mant­ling of the bored pile wall along the rail line, the par­tial breakth­rough from west to east has been achie­ved. For the first time, there is now a con­ti­nuous line of sight from the eas­tern excava­tion pit into the wes­tern sec­tion of the tunnel. 

The struc­ture is being built as part of the A26 fede­ral high­way (Con­s­truc­tion Lot 4.2) as an under­pass beneath the Ham­burg Har­bor Rail­way. It is being con­s­truc­ted using the cut-and-cover method as a two-cell frame, with AUGUST REINERS car­ry­ing out the work as part of the ARGE Hafen­bahn­tun­nel Ham­burg con­sor­tium. Of the tun­nel sec­tions to be built, 172 meters have alre­ady been completed. 

In the upco­ming con­s­truc­tion pha­ses, a sub­mer­ged con­crete floor with a volume of appro­xi­m­ately 7,825 m³ will be pou­red in the appro­xi­m­ately 5,215 m² excava­tion pit on the east side, before con­s­truc­tion pro­ceeds on the remai­ning appro­xi­m­ately 108 m of tun­nel and an ope­ra­ti­ons building. 

This mile­stone is the result of close and solu­tion-ori­en­ted col­la­bo­ra­tion among all pro­ject par­ti­ci­pants.
