ATTACK CELEBRATION SCHEMMELSBERG TUNNEL B93

The official groundbreaking ceremony for the Schemmelsberg Tunnel project on the B39 in Weinsberg near Heilbronn took place on March 1, 2024. Traditionally, this included the blessing of the tunnel before activities commence and the handover of the tunnel sponsorship. This was ceremoniously accepted by the local district president Susanne Bay. Our tunnel sponsor was also able to use the chisel on the stop wall and herald the start of driving the 414 m long rescue tunnel. Around 60 people took part in the ceremony. Mr. Kicherer, as a representative of the consortium and a long-established tunnel builder, also had the opportunity to take the lectern and wish everyone involved every success for the upcoming work.

Since then, our drive has been in full swing. The drive has already progressed almost 47 m. Approx. 158 m still lie ahead of us before the first cross-passage can be driven. The construction of the first cross-passage, as a connection to the main tube of the existing road tunnel, which is still in operation, is necessary for safety reasons. This ensures an additional escape route in the event of an accident. After breaking through the first cross-passage, driving will continue in the actual rescue tunnel.
