A new buil­ding for gra­des 11 to 13 was erec­ted for the dis­trict of Har­burg on the grounds of School Cen­ter I in Win­sen. It is a clas­sic solid con­s­truc­tion with a basic frame­work of rein­forced con­crete and sand-lime brick­work. The choice of mate­ri­als and exter­nal solar shad­ing ensure that the buil­ding does not heat up too much, even when expo­sed to sun­light. The façade blends in with the sur­roun­dings with a red­dish facing brick. The large façade panels in parts of the exter­nal sur­faces empha­size the modern archi­tec­ture. The three-storey buil­ding has a usable area of approx. 2,100 m². 

Two spe­cial fea­tures of the new “Schul­zen­trum Win­sen” buil­ding com­pared to a con­ven­tio­nal school buil­ding are the design of part of the first floor area in the form of an open space crea­ted by com­bi­ning 3 class­rooms (clus­ter solu­tion) and the self-lear­ning cen­ter crea­ted for the entire upper school with an adjoi­ning library on the first floor. The afo­re­men­tio­ned open space can be used for alter­na­tive forms of lear­ning in tea­ching units. The self-study cen­ter, on the other hand, is inten­ded to be used as a com­ple­tely inde­pen­dent unit, e.g. for free peri­ods. The self-study cen­ter also has a cor­re­spon­ding out­door area. 

Thanks to the clus­ter solu­tion descri­bed above, this school buil­ding can adapt to future deve­lo­p­ments in school use and alter­na­tive forms of lear­ning. The con­s­truc­tion work was car­ried out in close coor­di­na­tion with the school manage­ment, as the work had to be car­ried out in par­al­lel with ongo­ing school ope­ra­ti­ons.
The buil­ding was plan­ned tog­e­ther with our con­sor­tium part­ner (G.Effinger from See­ve­tal) and the archi­tec­tu­ral firm JUP from Win­sen, in accordance with the con­tract, a buil­ding per­mit was obtai­ned and com­ple­ted. The ser­vices also include inte­rim con­s­truc­tion finan­cing until accep­tance as well as main­ten­ance ser­vices for the first 5 years after accep­tance.
Accep­tance took place on 15.07.2021 approx. 1 month before the con­trac­tually agreed accep­tance date.
The inau­gu­ra­tion cerem­ony took place on 15.10.2021.
