AUGUST REINERS Bauunternehmung GmbH served as the general contractor for the turnkey construction of the new Tannenweg Elementary School building in Glinde.

Light-colored clinker bricks, green, yellow, and gray facade elements, and eye-catching exterior staircases make the building a cheerful focal point on the grounds in the Glinde area.

The layout plan for the two-story complex calls for a cafeteria on the ground floor that seats 250 people, complete with a dining hall, kitchen, staff and storage rooms, as well as utility and restroom facilities. The dining hall also features a large stage area that can be used in a variety of ways.

Inside, the large cafeteria offers plenty of space for dining, and through the large windows, the children can look out onto the schoolyard and the sports field. The ceiling features soundproofing elements in gray and orange that ensure pleasant acoustics, and transparent glass lamps—resembling balloons or soap bubbles—hang from the ceiling, creating an appealing visual effect. On one wall, a niche has been highlighted in orange, housing five sinks as part of a well-thought-out hygiene plan. Through three porthole windows, you can watch the kitchen staff at work.

The upper floor houses 10 classrooms, 5 auxiliary rooms, and 2 restroom facilities

In the hallway, the children can look up at the clouds through skylights and enjoy the natural light. The hallway has shelves and compartments for shoes and personal belongings. The walls are decorated with wooden beams. Bright colors encourage creative learning.

The entire house has underfloor heating. A solar system with more than 100 modules is installed on the roof, generating up to 50 kW. Heating is provided by a heat pump. The roof is green, which allows some of the rainfall to be retained during heavy rain and provides a food source for insects. In this way, the new building contributes to environmental protection. Overall, the house meets the KfW 40 standard.
