AUGUST REINERS Bauunternehmung acted as general contractor for the turnkey construction of the new KUFZ Alter Heerweg children’s and family center in Bremen. In cooperation with Immobilien Bremen, a modern meeting place for educational offers, family counseling and social encounters was created.

The building impresses with its clear spatial structures, accessibility and sustainable construction. Particularly noteworthy is the elaborate roof shape, which placed high demands on planning and execution, both in terms of its production and its unusual design. A green roof, a photovoltaic system and flexibly usable rooms underline the future-oriented character of the center. The barrier-free building comprises seven group rooms, six differentiation rooms, a movement room and a separate kitchen wing. It was built as a solid construction with facing brickwork, sand-lime brickwork and reinforced concrete columns. Filigree ceilings, a prefabricated staircase and wood-aluminum window elements complete the high-quality design. Heating is provided by district heating. The outdoor facilities pick up on the architectural language of the building and offer around 2,940 m² of varied play, exercise and retreat areas for the U3 and Ü3 age groups.
