BREAKTHROUGH IN THE B39 SCHEMMELSBERG TUNNEL PROJECT

There was reason to celebrate on June 15, 2024 at our construction site at the Schemmelsberg Tunnel. In the first connecting tunnel from the rescue tunnel to the existing road tunnel, light appeared at the end of the tunnel for the first time during the project. Our miners mastered the breakthrough of the tunnel structure using excavator driving — and even much earlier than the construction schedule!

With the construction of the first cross-passage, a new escape route was created, which also ensures greater safety during the construction period.
Meanwhile, work is already continuing in the main tunnel of the gallery. In continuous operation, which means 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it is full speed ahead towards the second cross-passage. Here, after approx. 415 m, the excavation of the structure ends, but the work of our tunnel builders from AUGUST REINERS Bauunternehmung GmbH is far from over. Following the excavation work, the tunnel is provided with a waterproofing membrane (KDB) and lined with a concrete inner shell.

We wish you continued success and of course a hearty “GLÜCK AUF!” for your first breakthrough!
